We’re almost into 2023 and I can honestly say that I’m delighted that 2022 is almost over. It was a difficult year in many ways, not least of which I delivered three manuscripts to two publishers in this one year, all for publication in 2023. I would normally take one year to write a book, so three in that time is a new thing for me. I did it because I wanted to produce a new dog detective mystery in honour of Pickles, my darling golden retriever who passed away in July. I also wanted to see if I could write at the speed that some of my thriller-writing friends do, and do it very well. The two thrillers I wrote, plus the dog detective mystery, will all be published next year.
Will I write that many books in one year again? I don’t think so.
Why? Because it took the joy out of the writing. These books are great stories which I hope readers will love, but the intensity and speed took the zing out of the process.
2023 is about doing things that make me happy. I hope that you also choose actions that make you happy.
Happy new year!
